With love from Sydney.
Michelle De Cruz has studied with internationally renowned teachers and Australia’s leading yoga teachers at BodyMindLife and InYoga in her pursuit of understanding the mind body connection through a science based approach. Her passion for movement, body mechanics and creative expression was developed as a child through different styles of dance training and in sports.
She began her yoga journey in 2008 where she discovered a regular asana and meditation practice would not only challenge her physically and mentally, but also cultivated a sense of wellbeing, clarity and mindfulness.
Her passion is further grounded through her university studies in Medical Science and personal experience in healing and managing an autoimmune condition Graves Disease. Being exposed to long term high pressure finance environments in male-dominated industries and international corporate firms, she understands all too well the effects of chronic stress, burnout and the consequential impact it can have on one’s physical and mental health.
The success of Yoga does not lie in the ability to perform postures but in how it positively changes the way we live our life and our relationships.

She draws from her practice of 12 years by integrating different styles and approaches to offer a safe and supportive space for her students. Her classes are purposefully sequenced to enable her students to explore meditation through mindful movement led by breath, cultivate connection to the body and find stillness and equanimity in a world that glorifies hyper-productivity and perfection. Her goal as a teacher is to help her students find balance and wellbeing both on and off their mats through the practice of yoga.
After successfully healing from Graves Disease without resorting to surgery, she is currently furthering her knowledge and exploring her cultural roots through deeper studies in yin yoga, which combines the principles of The 5 Elements Theory in Traditional Chinese Medicine (energetic meridian lines) and the corresponding Western fascial anatomy to enhance the flow of Qi and improve wellbeing.
Michelle remains a student at heart, and is grateful to all teachers past and present who have inspired and guided her along the way through their teachings and influences.
Much love,
M
